The White Coat Ceremony is a tremendous occasion marking the beginning of a student’s journey into medical education and a lifelong career in healing. Receiving this iconic professional symbol represents the donning of the responsibility and revered privilege of caring for each and every patient they encounter. We invite you to join in welcoming a new generation of Wayne State-trained physicians by sponsoring an incoming student’s first white coat. Students will have the opportunity to learn of their white coat sponsor and offer their gratitude once the ceremony has concluded.
“I am very thankful to be a part of such a welcoming and distinguished medical community here in the heart of Detroit. The next four years are going to be filled with many new opportunities that will challenge me mentally and physically. This white coat has opened these unique opportunities to me, and I am incredibly grateful to embark on this journey.” – Jon Konel, Class of 2022
The White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2025 will be held in late July. The sponsorship deadline is July 1. Gifts received after July 1 will be used for Class of 2026 White Coat sponsorships. Inspire the next generation of physicians to carry on this time-honored tradition by sponsoring a white coat today!
Sponsorship Levels: $100 -- 1 White Coat | $300 -- 3 White Coats | $500 -- 5 White Coats | $1,000 -- 10 White Coats
All sponsors are encouraged to include a note of welcome, and student recipients may reach out to connect with their benefactors after the ceremony has concluded. Sponsorships will be assigned at random.
