To address the ongoing and emerging needs of the public, Wayne State has undertaken two important initiatives for COVID-19 testing.
With a commitment from Wayne State University's Office of the President, the university, in partnership with Wayne State University Physician Group (WSUPG) and Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) launched an initiative in March to conduct drive-through testing for symptomatic first responders and medical professionals in Detroit and Dearborn.
An additional partnership with Ford X has organized COVID-19 mobile testing units, which will bring testing teams and equipment to patients who are unable to travel to testing sites. This service will be offered free of charge to symptomatic people with and without insurance and without a doctor’s prescription. Ford X will provide vehicles and drivers to transport mobile testing sites throughout Michigan, and each Ford X vehicle will be fully-equipped to conduct tests.
The demand for COVID-19 testing will increase as the virus continues to impact communities in southeast Michigan. Meeting this demand will depend on the availability of funds to sustain new and existing mobile testing sites.
Your gift today will mean so much to our efforts to address the immediate needs of mobile testing. From everyday operational costs, to purchasing equipment, to support for our health care workers, your gift will help ensure more people are tested and protected.
Thank you for all you do to help others!
The Warrior Relief and Response campaign will continue to address and support the most critically affected areas of our Wayne State communities as the pandemic continues.
